Module Data Replacement Feature Introduction

Overview

The Module Data Replacement feature allows users to resolve component compatibility issues by customizing module data via ODIS online programming.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Purchase ODIS login via Geko Bot and perform SVM Coding in ODIS.
  2. Activate Module Replacement function through Geko Bot .
  3. Submit a Module Replacement request.
  4. Perform SVM Coding again using ODIS.

Practical Application Scenario

Suppose you have a vehicle (Car A) with a defective component Ax, and currently, there is no available replacement component identical to Ax on the market.

You have obtained component Bx from another vehicle (Car B), which shares a similar module. However, despite the functional similarity, when attempting to install component Bx into Car A using ODIS online adaptation, the system returns error messages such as ERP0617E, ERP0237E, or other ERPXXXXE and FFPXXXXE errors, resulting in failed adaptation.

This occurs because, during online adaptation, ODIS automatically uploads Car A's VIN along with the component number of Bx to the VAG server to request parameters. The server detects incompatibility between the uploaded component Bx and Car A's VIN, thus rejecting the parameter download request.

Solutions

To resolve this issue, the Module Data Replacement technique can be employed to bypass the compatibility check performed by the server. There are two possible approaches:

1. VIN Substitution (Recommended)

2. Component Number Substitution (Not Recommended)

Technical Principle Explanation

Module Data Replacement does not physically alter your vehicle's VIN or component numbers. It merely modifies the uploaded information temporarily when sending data to the server. The VAG server verifies compatibility based on this modified upload and provides the appropriate parameters. Once parameters are successfully downloaded, they are correctly and compatibly written to the component.

Therefore, there is no permanent physical alteration or lasting effect on your vehicle or components. You do not need to worry about any lasting modifications or impacts.

Recommended Approach

Users are advised to prioritize the VIN substitution approach to ensure reliability and safety during the module replacement process.

The methods outlined above effectively assist users in quickly and smoothly completing online adaptation of automotive module data.

Warning: This method carries risks. Please obtain and use components with matching numbers whenever possible. You are fully responsible for any risks or issues arising from its usage.
